Reformist lawmakers meet Larijani

TEHRAN – On Monday, lawmakers from the minority faction held a meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to discuss the post-election situation in the country.
Larijani who himself is a member of the majority principlist bloc emphasized that the Majlis should play an active role in the national affairs, MP Ali Akbar Olia told the Mehr News Agency.Olia added that Larijani emphasized that the political figures should try to alleviate the current tension in the society.
“Larijani believed that (we) should not permit the country’s political atmosphere to become tense,” the MP noted.
The MP also stated that Larijani has emphasized that all disputes should be settled in a calm way.
MP Dariyoush Qanbari, the spokesman for the minority faction, stated that the reformist lawmakers discussed 20 issues with the Majlis speaker, the ILNA news agency reported.
The reformist lawmaker said the post-election detentions, the condition in which detainees are held, and the incidents at the Kahrizak detention center were among the most important issues discussed with Larijani who is also the leader of the Majlis principlist faction.
The minority faction members also protested to the closure of reformist newspapers and the closing the National Confidence Party office, the MP said.
